About the event
Synergy Autism Parent Groups are online meetings full of connection with other parents with similar aged children as well as expert guidance for common issues and needs associated with Autism.
This is an excellent option for parents seeking support in a small group format.
Each month, Barb brings a topic for discussion to start out the conversations then weaves in recommendations based on participants particular needs.
The sessions are offered in a conversational style.
Barb knows that each parent is an expert not only in their own child but has so much to share with others. It is through the collective process that we all learn and thrive.
This month's topic: Dietary preferences, needs, and concerns
It is common for Autistic people to struggle with food intake for many reasons. Some find textures and tastes in their mouths to be intolerable. Others seek extreme tastes and textures to help regulate their systems. Still others cannot tolerate changes to the look, feel, or brand of favorite foods. As Autistics become teens and adults, you often start seeing more limitations and/or significant weight loss or gain.
All of us have our own personal relationship with food. Families commonly struggle with their own values around food clashing with the preferences of their children.
In our groups, we will explore each members’ child’s current food celebrations as well as frustrations. Every discussion is facilitated by Barb in a neurodivergent friendly manner.
We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, for 1.5 hours.
